I do not admire Israel, or hold any of my views with respect to their
defense out of religious conviction. Actually my convictions on the theology
of modern-day Israel's relevance puts me at odds with most organized
Christian interpretations. I view them basically as a modern, man-made
entity that has no connection to the new covenant, which came into effect
fully in AD 79, with the Jesus-prophesied destruction of the Temple of
Jerusalem by the Romans. Anyway.

Be that as it may, I cannot fathom how a rational mind can look at Arafat,
the PLO, Hamas, etc., and see anything but truly evil murderous thugs.

I think the Israelis are *marginally* better, and certainly better allies to
us than the Arab countries that surround it; but it's a moot point. The
whole area is cursed by God, per the proposition he made to the actual
Israel of the OT--i.e., the blessing vs. the curse. They chose the latter,
and here we are.

McCain is a vacuous nothing of a candidate, a shameless self-promoter whom
even the dreaded neo-cons don't really trust. His single greatest virtue is
his willingness to sell friends and party down the river, and he is
apparently convinced he can win as a Republican without any Republicans
voting for him. He is prevented from picking Lieberman as is candidate only
by aides who have convinced him such a move would do him in, and swiftly at
that.

My biggest problem with McCain is his blind support for free trade, which is
totally in line with his professed ignorance about economics. I think it is
the reason for his support of the war, not any real affection for Israel per
se or believes about post-millenial eschatology, which I doubt he could even
spell. Can't have a new world order with guys like Saddam Hussein flouting
UN resolutions and all that.

If it's scary connections that bother you, you should learn a little bit
about Obama's ties to adherents of Liberation Theology, and its Afro-centric
offshoot, Black Liberation Theology. That shit will put goosebumps on your
back. And he is almost certainly going to be the next president.
