Dot matrix eh? Quaint.

VFP is quaint. I still use it. How about you?

Dot matrix is very workable. If you want cheap, fast way output, it is great. With fanfold paper, a listing stays together. This is very useful when looking at more than one program or report at a time.

In terms of Windows 7, people complained about XP having poor file
system security, then when it got fixed in Windows 7, people complained
again. You'll get used to it. In terms of things being different, I

I do not think so. I have a program that used to run in about 15 seconds. Now, it takes minutes. As I use it to determine where I need to make programming changes, this affects my workflow badly. Another program does not work at all.

don't know about OSX but certainly every Linux distro I've ever seen
moves more and changes more between major versions than Windows changed
between XP and 7.

You don't specify if you mean from a VFP application or just in general.
Either way, the reason is almost certainly driver related.

Outside of VFP for now. Sure about it being a driver, but in Windows XP, it just worked.

If you mean from a VFP application and using a report design then the
trick is normally to use printer fonts. If you look at the report design
and the properties of a field or label, make sure the font you are using
is one that is built into the printer (consult the printer manual).

No, I usually use my Epson Stylus NX215 for them.

Other than that make sure you are using the latest manufacturer driver,
then look at the properties and set it to the lowest DPI etc everywhere.

DPI means that it is still graphic (and slow). On other advice, I installed a generic printer driver, and that seems to have done it as a stopgap.
