For a while now I've been less than happy with the various remote control apps. I need something that: - Is royalty free for my customers. - Not too expensive for me and my dealerships :-) - Works when *both* ends are firewalled without the need to open a port (some of my resellers are not so tech savy). - Can be launched from my App. Click on a button, enter the pin that the guy/girl on the phone gives you. - Preferably doesn't require installation of 3rd party sw (e.g. Skype) - I don't care too much about file transfer functions as I have a ftp server. However it would be nice for *those* customers that block things (I have a nuclear power station as a customer :-) [1]. For many years I have been using DeskShare (http://www.deskshare.net). It's not free, but faster than most alternatives (VNC, TeamViewer, LogMeIn). However, it looks like the company is shutting down the product. We are having trouble purchasing licenses. Something that looks really nice is a VNC Repeater (Google it, there are various implementations). This allows you to use VNC without opening any ports. The downside is that you need a machine connected to the internet to act as the 'man in the middle' to pass through both firewalls (both sides are 'outgoing' connections). This is not a problem for me as I have a cheap hosted server with good bandwidth. Sorry Nicholas, that's probably not much help for you :-) Let's discuss, I'm sure we have the same problem.
