If you are in a fair sized city it is easy to find discarded PCs.
Usually they are in the dumpster because of virus infestation.
Installing Linux blows the virus away. If the specs are modest, use a
lightweight Linux distro.
I only need it for two things:
1. to make sure the changes I make to websites look good across all
types of systems which is why I want a linux, pc, and apple.
2. I want to start going to geekdom to get some exposure for myself so
that I can get back to work, and since I don't have an artistic bone
in my body, I also hope to use my database skills to trade for artistic
skills.
It would be much cheaper to go with a pc, but I already have a desktop
pc, but I don't have an apple or linux box yet.
Your usage intentions simplify it. Rig up a dual boot on the PC, Linux as
the second OS. Then get whatever mac you can afford.
