I am against "all" projects run by the government. Especially when one is
decided by a single person. The government should stick to the original
concepts of our Constitution: defense, foreign affairs and a few other
things and let states and business take care of the rest.

Your ideas have merit but I don't want the govt to do it. Even if the ideas
are totally sound, they always, always deteriorate into boondoggles. The
bigger they are the bigger the boondoggle. Just look at NASA. It started out
OK but has devolved into the management becoming entrenched, no new ideas
and huge wastes of money. Its goal now is to keep its managers employed not
to do space exploration.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is now so graft ridden and involved in every
aspect of people's lives that electricity costs between 5 and 10 times what
everyone else is paying. They control water rights, land rights and voting
rights in several states. I googled it and was astounded by how bad it is.
Like a cancer.

Ethanol is another boondoggle. It is bad in every sense of the word. Plenty
of facts on the Internet about its cost. In fact there is an ethanol plant
shutting down last week because its expenses are getting out of hand.

If you want algae, then let an entrepreneur do it. In fact there are a few
firms experimenting with it now. I suspect there may be some govt funding
behind the scenes which is wrong.
