People whose job is heads-down data-entry don't keep their jobs very long if they don't know how to use the keyboard instead of the mouse whenever possible. And a properly-designed application provides full functionality without ever having to touch the mouse. The mouse is a convenience for casual users, a hindrance to highly-skilled users, and necessary for no one.
