There was one BIG difference in VFP6.  It pretty much worked, which was 
not true of 5.

If you're going to be in VFP for longer than 6 months, I'd say Hell, 
yes!  Upgrade to VFP9.  It's much more reliable, both for developing and 
in the user environment.  And some of the additions are very useful.
