It's only partially a technical decision, but a professional one, too.
I use my machine to make money. I don't object to supporting the folks
who develop the software I build my solutions on. I would like to see
commercial / open-source business succeed. And having paid support on
the other end of the line as a last desparate resort ain't bad,
either.
