I use amavisd-new for the smtpd instances that receive authenticated

Are there any significant pros and cons in doing this as a pre-queue
filter (proxy) compared to doing it as a post-queue content filter?
Doing what as a filter?
Scanning outgoing mail for viruses and spam with amavis.
Pro is that you have the option to configure different filters for
different mail streams. The MUA (submission and smtps) service
configurations can be distinct from the MX ("port 25") service
configuration.
Yes. Port 25 will be handled before-queue with amavis as a milter and
the opendmarc milter.
Port 587/465 will also be subjected to amavis scan.
I just wonder whether there is any advantage to doing that as a
before-queue filter compared to an after-queue filter. There are
obvious advantages to handling port 25-mails before-queue, but I don't
really see any advantage in doing that for the submission ports, since
sending bounces to my own users should not be a problem. Is that
correctly understood?
