The patch is already done for Postfix 3.4 .. 3.8. Expect a code
release in a week or so.
The change is safe, because it is in a function that already
returns an error when the connection attempt fails. No changes
are needed in the callers of that function.

I then just have to convince the debian people to include this in
old-stable or the mailcow people to update the container to debian
stable.
Well, some more mails are going to be written.
In the meantime I found a workaround(TM) which I will send as an answer
to my original mail to the ML to be found by people with the same
problem.
