MX backups are a legacy of 30-40 years ago when it was very common to have
machines that only periodically connected to the Internet. There are many
reasons they are a bad idea in a modern context, and having a third party be a
alternate path for your mail is a particularly bad idea.

The real question is why do you think you need a backup MX?

IMO, if you really do need a backup MX (and I doubt very much you do) then the
only reasonable way to do it is to have a second server under your control to
act as backup. The better solution, nearly alway¹, is to have two mail servers
that share a spool and both act in a load-balanced way that is basically
invisible to the sending transport.

¹ Nearly always means "in every case I can think of, but there might be
some case I have not thought of."

wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?
