Allow me to be the bad cop. There is no data loss with the way that Postfix closes TLS. In the real world, politely waiting just does not make sense. Allow me to annoy you further. I am the person who wrote the SMTP client code that hangs up after sending QUIT without waiting for the server's response. Also the person who wrote the code that unceremoniously closes a cached connection when it is no longer needed, whether or not that connection uses TLS. Wietse
