I have:
# postconf |grep unverified_recipient_reject_
unverified_recipient_reject_code = 550
unverified_recipient_reject_reason = Unknown recipient address
Yet, postfix is still rejecting with:
May 20 08:38:27 mx10 postfix/smtpd[8934]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from host.com[x.x.x.x]: 450 4.1.1
<recei...@dom.com>: Recipient address rejected: unverified address: Unknown recipient address;
from=<sen...@dom2.com> to=<recei...@dom.com> proto=ESMTP helo=<host.com>
What am I missing? I don't understand why it's rejecting with 450 instead of
550 ?
the postfix FAQ linked from http://www.postfix.org/docs.html
(Kyle Dent's Postfix resources)
explains that:
http://www.seaglass.com/postfix/faq.html#tmprsp
26. According to my configuration Postfix should be replying with a permanent
error code (554), but it keeps sending a temporary one (454). Why is it doing
that?
You probably have soft_bounce = yes. Also, if there is a temporary DNS problem, Postfix automatically converts permanent errors to temporary ones.
