That is not what I told you to do.
Oh, I now realize. Misread it to try to switch it off... I guess you heard the facepalm echoing over the atlantic ;-) So removing -DNO_EAI from my makefile should "turn it on" _if_ the libs & header files are found. According to apt-get the libicu-dev is installed on the 10.04., but the compile says gcc -I. -I../../include -DUSE_TLS -DUSE_SASL_AUTH -DUSE_CYRUS_SASL -I/usr/include/sasl -DNO_EAI -DHAS_DEV_URANDOM -DSNAPSHOT -UUSE_DYNAMIC_LIBS -DDEF_SHLIB_DIR=\"no\" -UUSE_DYNAMIC_MAPS -Wmissing-prototypes -Wformat -Wno-comment -g -O -I. -DLINUX2 -c attr_scan64.c indicating it can't find/use those? Maybe these are simply too old for pf to use? Dating 25.01.2012... ... /usr/lib/libicui18n.so.42.1 /usr/lib/libicutu.so.42.1 /usr/lib/libsicui18n.a /usr/lib/libsicutu.a /usr/lib/libiculx.so.42.1 /usr/lib/libicuuc.so.42.1 /usr/lib/libsicule.a /usr/lib/libsicuuc.a /usr/lib/libicuio.so.42.1 /usr/lib/libsicuio.a /usr/lib/libsicudata.a /usr/lib/libsiculx.a /usr/lib/libicudata.so.42.1 /usr/lib/libicule.so.42.1 ... And the other machine is even older and hasn't libicu* at all (and no way to get it installed). I'll stick with the 1101 snapshot there (until it is obsoleted by the 16.04 when I resolve the dovecot/pf issue)... Can you confirm the old library may be the reason for my observation? Thanks Wietse for all your effort, even on the weekend. Much appreciated!
