I have read various LE posts regarding certificate lifetime, and while I agree that LE apparently favours automation, I don't think the matter has been decided yet. My personal (!) take on it is that there might be separate processes for automated clients with shorter lifetimes (30 days might be too short, though), and for manually updated certificates with a longer lifetime. Just speculating. -Ralph
