Sorry, Bill, I just didn't read it the way you did; the README was 
clear enough for me.  The section of after-220 tests (HTML anchor 
#after_220) has subheadings introduced as follows:

"
 The following "after 220 greeting" tests are available:

   * Command pipelining test
   * Non-SMTP command test
   * Bare newline test
   * When tests fail after the 220 SMTP server greeting 
"

And to me, each of those first three subheadings is clear that the 
associated postscreen_*_enable setting is what enables the test.

Perhaps if you can come up with wording which would have been more 
clear to you, Wietse will consider it for inclusion.



An aside, regarding smtpd_helo_required: just say yes.  Legitimate 
clients always say HELO/EHLO.  You'll never lose any real mail by 
requiring HELO/EHLO.  And regarding postscreen_helo_required: note 
that you've already decided you're not going to accept the mail when 
postscreen is in a position to enforce it or not.
