For me, aliases in virtual_alias_maps map to real addresses in virtual_mailbox_maps, and then map to transports in transport_maps where they get passed off to the appropriate handler.  I would imagine the mailman addresses need to be mapped in virtual_mailbox_maps and handed off via transport_maps. Also, have you tried raising the debug level to diagnose the hand-off in logs?
