Because I have a dynamic (quasi-static) IP so I relay via my ISP who insisted on SMTPS. SMTPS has only been introduced into postfix recently and is not available for my distro. Having said that I may remove stunnel/SMTPS as the ISP backed down and now allows SMTP on port 25
postfix smtp client can use sasl auth, so you complicate the problem that your isp thinks blocking port 25 stops authed spam maillers :=)
see soho readme on postfix smtps is not port 25 btw if you can make a stunnel postfix can then do ssl asweell
