Actually you usually do. When anyone does a reverse lookup on your IP, it will point at the ISP's DNS, not yours, so unless you have reverse delegation set up on your ISP, creating your own PTR record is ineffective. To this end, most hosting ISPs (certainly all of mine do) provide a facility to configure reverse DNS entries in their name servers. Marcus
