When I used to send emails from my desktop email client (Thunderbird) it
would be sent to the email (Postfix) server almost instantly. My desktop and
server are on the same local LAN.

Now when I send an email there is a definite pause. When I click send, it
sits at the screen saying:

Status: Connected to mail.domain.com

I actually timed it and it takes almost 10 seconds to send an email now to
the server. Sending emails always used to be near instantaneous so I was
wondering what would be causing this delay?

Before someone mentions it, I don't scan my outgoing emails with
Spamassassin (or anything else that I am aware of). In the beginning I did
use SA for outgoing emails but disabled that feature. I know SA isn't the
cause of the problem as I can't see any SA entries for scanning outgoing
email so all is good there.

I've gone through my master.cf and main.cf quite a few times and can't find
what could be wrong. A few days ago sending email was near instantaneous so
I'm not sure what has happened. Pinging the server gives great response
times. Funny thing is, sending email from a mobile phone (from the internet)
with K9 mail works perfectly. I also tried sending email from another
machine on the LAN with Thunderbird and Opera Mail but they were slow too.

Any ideas?
