First, thanks for the time in helping me with this.
The setting for virtual_transport apparently was introduced prior to 2006
for reasons I have not yet been able to find. I will note that the
documentation for virtual_transport does say that nexthop is optional. ;)
It sounds like at least in the case of "error" it is not.
I changed the value for virtual_transport to be:
error: 5.1.1 Mailbox unavailable
And now I see:
