If they were blocking ports, it would be a time-out.
There's no way to connect to the destination, it would seem, let alone an 
arbitrary port.

I suspect either your router config, or a typo in what you think is your local 
network.

But without a lot more details than just postconf, like … what is the IP 
address of your mail server … this will be a bit of a poser.
