no need :-) he could simply configure his syslog daemon proper that is why it exists rsyslog: :msg, contains, "whatever" -/var/log/whatever :msg, contains, "whatever" ~ at the very begin of the rules ____________________ or a sample i am using to have dhcp not in /var/log/messages: :programname, isequal, "dhcpd" -/var/log/dhcpd.log :programname, isequal, "dhcpd" ~
