Untrue, a self-signed certificate works fine. Be aware mail clients will complain about an invalid or untrusted certificate. This isn't any different than using a self-signed cert with dovecot. If you already have a cert for dovecot, use the same one. If you want an inexpensive real cert, they're widely available from reputable vendors such as rapidsslonline.com -- Noel Jones
