READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. This is the text from the install script:

    install_root_prompt="the prefix for installed file names. Specify
    this ONLY if you are building ready-to-install packages for
    distribution to other machines."

See the AAAREADME file, which I would highly recommend if you
intend to install Postfix from source code.

See the INSTALL file, which I would highly recommend if you
intend to install Postfix from source code.
