Something else you may want to consider is creating /etc/hosts entries on each machine on the LAN for its brothers and sisters, assuming we're talking about a trivial number of hosts and that you have root/shell access to each. On Debian, and thus I assume most *nix OSes, any name<->address query will go to /etc/hosts first before going to DNS. The use of [] in Postfix solves the immediate Postfix problem. Using /etc/hosts entries solves such problems for all applications. -- Stan
