Good day all,
I apologize in advance if the moderators consider this slightly OT.

We have many users moved to a MySQL database, planned for moving away from
Cyrus on Sunday Oct 3, we are almost ready to go but found a problem with
pop3 software we were going to use.

So basically, using postifx's virtual, excluding Dovecot, what POP3 servers
are people using? This will be NFS so we are going to use Maildir.
We know Courier, but Googling shows a /lot/ of people say it's slow
compared to other daemons, but there does not seem to be much else of a real
choice?

We have approximately 90 thousands DSL and 3G users, not a big company, but
hardly too small either.

Before the fans cry foul of why not Dovecot. we have followed the list
thread of what may be a problem with Dovecot its author has identified but
decided is a "tuff luck" case, he indicates serious corruption risks with
index and caches using multiple delivery servers, and only a few people have
asked for workaround which the author feels it is not enough to warrant a
safe workaround, so rather than use a bit of software that its author says
can produce unreliability, we think it is best to look elsewhere.
Please note, we are silent lurkers, we know some of you are on both lists,
and aware of the threads I speak of, so are not interested in your POV in
for's or against's or what they have said, only recommendations on
alternative daemons.

Another quick question before I depart for work, I understand also (from
that other lists thread) that postfix does not support maildir++ , with that
curiosity, I googled and found mention of it not being introduced due to
possible race conditions, but the latest mentions were from 2006, here we
are 2010, with a lot of software using maildir++ rather happily, so, has
this been more recently reconsidered , yet still rejected?

ciao
Nick
