I have a small-business service from a major US internet carrier. They
offer no IP6 service. They have no *plans* to offer IP6 service. They have
no plans to *have a PLAN* to deploy IP6 service. The industry has been
fighting tooth and nail to avoid deploying IP6 since it was invented.
I worked for hosting companies. One was technically ready to connect customers
in IPv6,
the other one had it on study. But in both we (the tech staff) were told "customers
do not ask for it".
While I don't doubt that's true, it's a bad metric to use. Just as most
people buying a new car don't *specifically ask* for the brakes to work.
They just assume that the car will come with working brakes.
The difference is that everyone *knows* a car should come with working
brakes, while honestly, a large majority of people looking for hosting
contracts don't even know that IP4 and IP6 exist as separate things, let
alone what the differences are. It's not their area of expertise, or
they wouldn't be asking someone to do it for them. So why *would* they
ask for it?
