I think that's doable. There are Debian policy limitations (for good reason in my view) on what one package (Postfix in this case) can do to another (Cyrus SASL). I need to look at the user situation a bit more closely. There's about a quarter century of inertia behind the current situation (hard to believe Postfix has been around that long) and I don't want to accidentally break something.
