Yeah, admins need to be careful about the queried source. The Tor project publishes official data for all participating server nodes on the Tor Metrics website [1] several times per day. There are also fundamental differences between "guard", "middle" and "exit" type Tor nodes. Only the latter type routes traffic from within the Tor network to the outside world, hence the name "exit".
