I do entirely agree with you're statement however we have many MANY clients 
that have been with us a while and because they are all remote and not always 
IT literate, its easier implementing what worked and add the better methods for 
new clients.

It's simply to avoid the hassles of clients phoning in and us having to loose 
time to users questions!

I have got pop-before-smtp now working with DB4 !!! , Just need to test 
everything still works as it was.

Do you really need the aggravation? I understand why POP-before-SMTP 
might seem appealing (I even wrote my own a long, long time ago), but 
it's now considered a hack with significant disadvantages. Since almost 
all modern clients support more secure methods of SMTP AUTH, your time 
will be much better spent implementing that, instead. Can you still 
demonstrate a need for POP-before-SMTP?
