Possibly. But the bios saw the hard drive (I did a reboot and entered the
BIOS setup screen and the hard drive showed up), yet the black screen with a
blinking cursor still appeared.

Anyway, doesn't hurt to update the BIOS. :) I'll try this and see what
happens. :)
