No need to buy the laptop if you can visit a showroom with a few Live CDs of your favourite distros, along with Knoppix try Ubuntu 7.10 (coming Friday) and Fedora 8 (coming Nov 8th) which have Live CDs. openSUSE 10.3 was out Oct 4th but Live CDs were supposed to appear 2 weeks after the release which should be any day now. So wait if you can til 2nd week of Nov when you can try all the Live CDs... :-) Hopefully the showroom salespeople won't be alarmed and will allow you to pop in the CD(s) and do a test boot. -- "Thou shalt not follow the null pointer for at it's end madness and chaos lie."
