My experience is similar and the service so far is very good, i get
the answers quickly and they actually follow up if they can't
immediately give the answer.

I am using knoppixx and the config is under
KDEMenu->KNOPPIX->Network/Internet->ADSL/PPPOE connection

The setup is really easy, make sure your ethernet card is connected
and up with a 192.168.0.x ip (well it works for me i donno about if
this matters)
The above menu item is a wizard and will setup the connection for you.
The only thing required to be entered is username and password rest is
all automated. The default yes answer will do just fine for dataone.

Yes the connection speed varies between 160kbps to 240kbs for me YMMV
according to distance from exchange.

This i however not true, i successfully accessed my cjb.net pop
account from kmail. As such none of the ports are blocked so you can
do everything that a dialup connection supports. (telnet ftp ssh sip
whatever....)

In all 9.8 out of 10 points for the service so far i will give the
remaining 0.2 points when they keep the record same after completing
one year.

Cheers
