i suppose you use transset to turn on transparency. in that case,
afaik, it is just a 'demo' program, not intended for regular use.
i cant give you my cpu usage figures when i'm using transparency (i'm
not on my box right now, and my box is ... 'out of order' )
as for 3-d, try enabling the experimental 3-d with composite support.
(earlier in thread).
