If there was no internet, there wouldn't be so much of OSS today..That is a very weak argument. OSS developers have been sharing code when the best connections available were 14.4K dialups. Cheap broadband doesn't make more people develop open source software.
Few arguments..
- Development process includes testing. In OSS, users are testers as well. More downloads means more testing..
- Availability of broadband helps. I never said it is the only factor promoting OSS.
Try participating in a active project, say linux kernel on a dial-up. You would soon notice why you need broadband..
