Tomorrow (Thursday) at 4.15pm in the Graduate Common Room the Logic Seminar will discuss George Boolos, "Reading the Begriffsschrift", Mind 94 (1985) 331-44 (available at http://www.jstor.org/stable/2254808). This discusses whether the use of second-order logic in the third chapter of Begriffsschrift to prove properties of the ancestral is really, as Frege maintained, independent of intuition. If you are attending, please read the article beforehand and bring a copy with you to the meeting.
