Anyone have any good experiences or thoughts to share on a "local cloud" device to allow the increasingly unwired user to backup their stuff.
Obviously there are genuine cloud based services, but some are very limited or expensive and there's always the upload speed issue (not to mention privacy etc). A couple of people have asked me about "something to back up my photos" but iThings don't provide a way to save to a local external HDD without the intervention of a computer. Is there a solution with a networked hard disk, probably connected via wireless for convenience, with an app or similar interface to allow straightforward backup ? Such a thing probably runs Linux, keeping it on topic [😉] Phil
