Hmm

Ok well ive still lost all my icons now under applications, but I have
worked out how to change the background, this is done in system settings
(click username in top right > system settings, under Personal > Background.

Thats as much as i can do so far, I just wish i could add custom folders and
launchers, its so frustrating.
