yes. It's a good idea to include *enough* of the message you are 
replying to, so it makes sense, but no need to include the whole thing.

As an example in this message I included your question and my answer to it.

In general the excessive quoting problem results from writing your 
answer at the top, rather than the bottom. Try this :-



A. It makes more sense to the reader as we read from top to bottom.



Q. Why is it better to put the answer after the question.
