To force in SATA1 mode you may need a SATA2 mobo by eadmaster It seems to me that there is no jumper to force the SATA speed. The only way i've found to make this HDD work with the VIA VT8237 southbridge is to force the HDD in SATA1 mode as stated in the manual with the ES-TOOL. But, in order to perform this operation you must connect the HDD to a SATA2-compatible motherboard, you can't set the mode with the above-mentioned controller.
