Hello all, I do not intend this to be a negative post, but one that I hope will be interesting to all.
We all - including myself - use Linux on a daily basis. I do not see me changing in case anyone is wondering!! However, the reality is that Windows in all its incarnations rules the Desktop. In business, schools, campuses etc. For just one simple e.g. see this: http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Case_Study_Detail.aspx?casestudyid=4000005495 (I suspect that much or most of their new infrastructure could have been replaced with Linux therefore saving even more!) Much of what we read is totally wrapped up in Windows. There seems to be no stopping that train! And when Linux does appear to make an appearance, most of the world seems to ignore it, or, as in the recent case of Netbooks, go back and install XP! My question is this, In reality are Linux users destined to remain on the periphery of PC usage? Are we, in fact, a small fairly insignificant group of Geeks!? Is Linux a force to be reckoned with or are we deluding ourselves? I would be interested in your views and comments, and this is NOT intended as a chance to bash Windows - please!
