Sorry for my spelling I am dislex...... Considering that linux started as a students project I am always somewhat serprised as to just how fare it has come.
Inded meny people see Windows as the only OS out there. As for your question ".......a force to be reckoned......." a force to do what? "........on the periphery........." ???? If I use my computer (PC or other whatever OS and software I use) to make my Art or control my lights at the club I work in am I "on the periphery" or where am I? "....a small fairly insignificant group of Geeks!?......" Is any one or group insignificant or significant? Some groups belive that even the smalest bug as a vitel part to play in the universe. A final point is much of the functioning of the internet would not be posabale with out Linux and Unix The very protocals that we all use (TCP IP and others) where not native to Windows; Windows 3.1 could not access TCP networks without 3rd party software.
