Yoshiko, Most often, millipedes invade a building via gaps beneath exterior doors or around windows or non-sealed utility penetrations. They may also thrive indoors in basements or other sites where is it humid and cool, such as within or around sumps, floor drains that lead to dry wells or the soil, and in overly watered plant pots. As Joel mentioned, rains may drive millipedes (and other creatures) indoors.
