No, if this was proposed from within Sun it would get the same, or even stricter response (we could instruct Sun staff to properly address the kstat semantics as a requirement of the project - perhaps by enhancing kstats as we've suggested.) So long as you understand the issues and are careful - you can probably work around this all just fine.
