As we were returning to our hotel in Toledo, we found our way blocked by a fairly long procession. I suspect that it started at a large church at the top of the hill.
The desk staff at the hotel (very nearby) didn’t know what the occasion was, and I was able to learn nothing from Señor Google. Professor Wikipedia says that rosemary (fastened to sticks in the last couple of images) can be a symbol of remembrance in European funerals, but the atmosphere of this crowd was festive rather than funereal.
