You didn't mention what your macro subjects would be, but if you're interested in nature-related subjects I highly recommend John Shaw's "John Shaw's Closeups In Nature" (ISBN 0817440526). Mr. Shaw's treatment of nature macro photography is to the point and easy to read. Lots of good stuff there.
