We were brought up on RAF bases where there were lots of old bomb shelters and water towers to play in. We used to find stacks of rusting old tins of condensed milk left over from the war, and we would use them as bombs, throwing them from the tops of the water towers, or against the brickwork of the air raid shelters. In those days a bowl of tinned peaches with condensed milk was a luxurious healthy treat. It can be used to make dulce de leche.
