The day before I left England my brother-in-law drove out to Chappell, Essex [I think it's Essex] to see an impressive railroad viaduct that spans a river valley. When I imported the images into LR I was dismayed to see that I had forgotten to reset the the ISO of 3200 I'd used indoors the evening before. To my surprise, though, the images are sharp and largely free of noise---well, to my eyes anyway. <http://www.flickr.com/photos/eeweir/10144700623/in/set-72157636303781576/>
I assumed that high ISO images, at least on my camera [*istDS], were always noisy. It was a bright day, and shots were taken with a fast shutter [1/750]. Is that the explanation? If so, what is the explanation? If not, what is the explanation?
