Hi Len, I know it was made for an 85mm, but it is perfect for a 50mm, even with a filter on at f16 it will not interfere. It`s perfect (except it says Nikon) I say. I scored two of them from Pacific Rim for $20 each, brand new in their cute little boxes, list price is around $70 each. Now if I could find a nice lens cap that fits the HN-7..........
